Although Sam Smith Travel was originally started in Churchill Way in Cardiff in 1977, the office here in Cowbridge has only been in our name since May 2000, before this it was for a short period Culver Travel and prior to that from 1982 to 1998 Roddam Travel of which our corporate director Neil Jones was the owner.

The original Sam Smith Travel expanded in 1980 to Rumney and then in 1988 to Llandaff High Street, which is where in 1990 the other offices consolidated.

The business was sold in 1993 and became a branch of Going Places. Sam Smith had intended to retire from travel, but was persuaded to assist the Culver Group in setting up a new travel operation and started working in conjunction with Neil Jones and Roddam Travel, acquiring the Cowbridge office in 1998. The office was subsequently sold to Sam Smith in May 2000.

In September 2008 after the departure of Travel City Sports from the marketplace Sam Smith Travel acquired this specialist Sports Travel operation which is now wholly owned by us and was re-named Strachan Sports Travel and retained the office in the prestigious Cardiff International Arena.

Since then we have been providing travel advice and reservations for both the Leisure and Business markets. Now our Business/Corporate Travel Department has moved to our office at the CIA in Cardiff – more details of their services are on our Corporate web site www.samsmithtravel.biz
